Extended Spring Training???

What is it exactly?  Can you find stats for it? on what website? I am in an exteremly deep league with a draft coming up on June 7th and wondering how the Angel Villalona types have been doing for the last 2 months.

A side note, what's up with the 300 character minimum on these posts?

Extended Spring Training
is basically just what it sounds like.  Players perform basic fundamental drills (pitching, hitting, fielding, etc.) at the team's minor league complex.  There are no stats, because there are no "games", unless you want to count the "complex" leagues like the Arizona League.

Not entirely true
There are games, to the same extent that there are games in minor league camp and in the GCL and AZL.  They don't start keeping track of stats until late June, but the nature of those games really doesn't change very much.

To hear about the Villalonas and Monteros of the world you've pretty much got to either hope BA or Goldstein throws you a bone, or go down to Florida or Arizona and check it out for yourself and talk to people.

Extended spring training is exactly what it sounds like. Most of the players there are very young or rehabbing from injury. They do play games, but it's very informal and as far as I know nobody bothers keeping statistics. Even if someone did do that, the stats would be even more useless than regular spring training stats.

Some of the young guys who started the year in extended Spring Training are beginning to emerge in official minor league games (see Kasey Kiker), but most guys won't play in official games until the complex league begin.
