Pitching prospect Cesar Carrillo might need season ending elbow surgery after being removed from Monday's game with Triple-A Portland.
Carrillo was sidelined for all but 10 starts last season due to similar elbow soreness. If he undergoes Tommy John surgery he will be out for around nine months.

Prospect Fernando Nieve has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the right ulnar collateral ligament.
Nieve will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, but it appears he will need season ending surgery to fix the injury.

This is sad because both had/have bright futures ahead of them but will join the ranks of Mark Rogers, Humberto Sanchez, etc. most likely. If they both can recover, I still expect good things.
