Hanson vs McGee vs Morales

A 19 team team points league that I'm in permits us to carry 5 minor leaguers. I currentl have:

  1. Travis Snider, OF
  2. Chris carter (ARI), 1B
  3. Andy LaRoche, 3B
  4. Franklin Morales, SP
  5. Jacob McGee, SP
I'm considering replacing either McGee or Morales with Tommy Hanson, SP ATL.

How would you rate these pitchers?

don't drop mcgee
he's much better than the other two.

i'm not a morales believer, although he certainly has his share of supporters. hanson i think is just a case of SNTS.

Carter?
Get rid of Chris Carter and add Tommy Hanson.  Hanson is the real deal Holyfield.

Keep McGee
You have to keep McGee, but get in on Hanson if you can.

Personally, I wouldn't have any trouble dropping Carter or Morales for Hanson.

i would have a problem dropping morales for him
hanson is almost 21 pitching in low-A ball. morales is 7 months older in AA. beware the overaged players dominating in lower leagues. until hanson gets up to where morales is and performs better than him, ill stick with morales

Hanson
Hanson will be 21 on 8-28, so for this season he will be 20 for the overwhelming majority of the season. Besides that he will likely be promoted to high A ball around mid season with a good chance to start next year in AA.

Overaged?
Hanson isn't overaged. He's 20 years old and a former draft and follow - he is exactly where he needs to be right now and having great success without the inconsistent mechanics/control issues that have plagued Morales for his entire career.

I don't think the "until he reaches his level and performs better than him" criteria is very useful. I mean, is Matt Tuiasosopo a better prospect than jay Bruce just because Bruce hasn't performed as well as Tui at Double-A yet?

he is overaged for the league he is in
he is by no means over aged to be a prospect, but to drop a guy who is not only 21 pitching in AA, but who is also one of the best lefties in the minors, for a guy that is in a league below his age and potential and who has a very small sample size, is flat out stupid. why would you drop a guy who has performed well for a few years, for a guy who has pitched well in like 50 innings. i really do not see a way to justify that at all. even with his inconsistent command, he is still better than hanson. as for the comparison you just used, that is weak. bruce is an OF, tui is a 3b, and almost a full year older, while bruce is a very highly touted prospect. not many people have even heard of hanson, whereas morales is  top 15 pitcher, and could easily be top 10 or maybe even top 5 if he could control the ball a bit better

Drop Carter
Morales and McGee are both elite lefties.  Don't drop them.  Drop Carter, and pick up Hanson.

Hanson
I was thinking about taking him, Rick Vanden Hurk or  Listch from Toronto... Who do you all think? What would your order be?

Meh
I don't think Morales has the control to consistantly be effective in the show, much less make it to the show. Mcgee is a tier above those guys. Vanden Hurk I actually like a lot. and Listch isn't bad either
