Clippard

It looks like the great Clippard debate will really get going now as it appears he is going to be called up to pitch for Sunday against the Mets.
He was pulled after striking out the side in the 1st inning.
Awaiting text message confirmation from him now but it certainly appears its a go.
Let the debate begin!

is he a #3 or a long reliever
...or back of the rotation at best.

okay
Prett LARGE difference between a solid #3 starter and a long man, wouldn't you think. Is that your way of saying you don't know how good he'll be?

No
He's explaining what the debate about Clippard on this site has been.  The majority of people here seem to feel Clippard is a long man/5th starter.  I'm in the 3rd starter camp on Clippard, I think he can be a solid mid rotation guy.

the
stats vs. stuff argument that always pops up with him

Funny thing
about this nonsense about Clippard is I watched him in spring and i mthought he had good stuff. Better than Rasner or Desavlvo but, I guess that isnt saying a lot.

I liked his arm alot...
in spring training.

His curveball is inconsistent, but its definitely got to be a plus pitch when it's on. He has a good fastball that gets on top of guys.

I think he's got the potential to be a #3 definitely.

my question
Is who gets sent down? DeSalvo?

by Kanst42 on May 17, 2007 3:11 PM EDT reply actions

him or rasner
i would think.

by nyybaseball99 on May 17, 2007 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions

well
Rasner is starting the second game in the series.  Gotta be DeSalvo.

rumor
has it that Pavano is going to the 60 day to make room. I guess we shall see.

by chanman on May 17, 2007 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

40 Man
Wouldn't that only make room on the 40 man roster?  Someone would still have to go off the 25 man roster.  I am assuming that Pavano is already on the DL.

DeSalvo
After today's start, I'm gonna guess DeSalvo is sent back down.
