With all the draft coverage on this site ans soon to be on this site (and since I can't participate since I'll be on vacation :-(, I decided to take a look at the 11th pick in the 2006 draft out of Missouri, Maxwell Scherzer. Scherzer has until May 31st to sign with the Arozona Diamondbacks or he will again enter the 2007 draft. He has been playing with the Ft. Worth Cats of the Independent League (the same team Hochevar played with). The Cats have played 6 games thus far, and Scherzer has started only one game, though he pitched very well, 5IP 1H 8ks 0.00ERA .063BAA. A small sample size, but he's a stud when healthy. So, will he get a deal done with Arizona before May 31st? Will he follow Hochevar and be the 1st player selected? Where will he go? You gotta figure he'll lose money doing this just like Hochevar did despite being a 1st round pick.
