yep
where will they play him though when he's ready for the majors.  He's going to have to adjust to play right I think because Chris Young is a better fielder than him, honesty I think the glut the AZ outfield has will be changed soon I think.  I think Quientin is gone after next year and Gonzalez might be a flat out bust now(.203 ave).

LF?
Hairston can take over for Byrnes next year and hold down LF until Upton is ready in in late 2008 or to start 2009.  I'd say if Gonzalez is for real, then Quentin gets dealt.  If Gonzo flops, I'm not sure if Quentin goes or not.

I'd say at the rate he's going, Upton might be ready by September 2007.

That might seem like hyperbole but I don't think the talent and skill level has ever been the question so much as the motivation. Clearly he seems to be motivated now.

yeah
that seems about right to me.  this is the kind of talent that moves.  if he keeps hitting he'll be in the majors by next year, easily.  early next year.  probably the beginning.

Jeez it's one freaking game
He could go 0-15 and some of you will be saying send him back down.  Damn let the kid stay in AA the rest of the season and see if he really is the next great outfielder.

hahahahahaha
that was a beautiful try to turn the tables

the thing is, I don't think anyone's saying this based off the one game. in fact, it couldn't have less to do with what he did or didn't do today. and I'd have to agree with the assessment that, come September callups, we could be seeing Jupton.

Huh?

I think if anyone on this site would be likely to make a statement about sending Upton back down in that scenario, it's you.

There's nothing I can say to this that could make it funnier than it already is.

I'm not Sure about 2007
They should be in the race for sure, and he could be a huge Bench player for them down the strech, but I just don't see him having enough ABs to win a job at that stage of the season.

D
why do you say that Young is the better fielder? I'm sure Upton will have more speed and maybe a better arm. He just won't have the instincts yet.

carlos gonzalez showing life
Maybe upton can help him get out of his year long slump, he got an RBI double after Upton walked.

Biscuits
Briggy was 1 for 3 with 2 walks today.

Longoria was 3-4 with a HR and 1 BB.

Chris Mason went 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 1BB, 4K's.  ERA is now 2.66.  He was disappointing last season, but so far is putting together a solid season.

CALL HIM UP!!!
His mid-August call up is inevetiable, so get his ass in the majors RIGHT NOW!!!!!

I'd imagine Byrnes gets traded for pitching at the deadline.
