edwin and the reds

The reds just sent Edwin Encarnacion down to the minors.

With the emergence of Hamilton and a healthy outfield (shifting Freel to the infield on a more frequent basis) is there a possibility the Reds could deal Edwin for some pitching help?

If so, where could he end up.  The Giants crossed my mind as a possibility...

i never thought of it til now
and i don't watch him on a regular basis so maybe i'm wrong, but that comments just makes me think that if ever there was a pedro feliz jr., edwin encarnacion is it

Please
Edwin Encarnacion has has much better plate discipline than Feliz (not that that would be hard) throughout his minor-league and major-league career. What he needs more than anything is to get away from the Reds. The Red Sox don't really need him, but if Theo could steal EE by dangling a couple of relievers in front of Krivsky, I'd be overjoyed...

Edwin
Careless errors recently, also ran into trouble earlier on for not running out pop-ups. He's not doing himself any favors. He needs a walk up call.

Pirates are a logical fit
Pirates would be too obvious right?
Pittsburgh has a derth of young arms and desperately in need of a 3rd baseman with power.
Would allow them to deal Castillo and make Bautista their "super utility" man.
They have a history of trades even though they are in the same division, most recently Sean Casey.
Littlefield has too much man-love for MI to make a move like this however. Even in a buy low situation.
Perhaps Encarnacion for John Van Bent(1.93 era at AAA), or Gorzalany.  Past #1 pick Bullington is ready for bigs anyway with a 1.90 era at AAA in 42IP.

In the division
Only reason why a trade won't work out is that they both are in the Central.  Teams don't like to make trades within their own division, for obvious reasons.  Especially in a case like this, where Encarnacion might get fired up every time he plays Cincy.

Dearth?
You usually trade from a surplus.

Yep
While I really like Snell and Gorzelanny, I would hardly call the Pirates organizational pitching situation a plethora.

well
first of all, if the pirates were to trade gorz i hope they'd get back a lot more than encarnacion.

second, despite the #'s i don't think bullington would cut it in the majors at any point this season

Twins
I think he'd be a perfect fit for the Twins, even if he isn't a "guppy" or a "goldfish", or whatever type of aquatic critter Ozzie Guillen is calling the Twins this year.

Crappies...
... I believe is the species you're looking for.  If only Punto could find his tiny superhero tights again and Bartlett would live up to expectations.  sigh  Oh, what could be...

Anyway, I wouldn't mind getting Edwin for my Twins.  We've got some pitching to cough up.  In my MLB2K7 franchise I traded Carlos Silva plus bit parts for Encarnacion and wouldn't mind seeing that happen in real life.  I think the Twins would like to have Matt Moses or David Winfree take over 3B in the next couple of years.  I don't see that happening.  Moses has a hard time staying healthy.  Winfree is still such a big question mark for any type of realistic projections.  Edwin could probably benefit from the Twins' school of plate discipline and fielding fundamentals.

Guppy? Lol....
Pirhana is what he called them last year... and they promptly responded this year by handing out little pirhana puppets as door souveniers on Monday.

Twins probably are not a fit because they won't put up with his defense... unless they were to plan on making him a DH.

I really think Encarnacion moves to 1B.  His bat is good enough to play there and be at least league average, and there would be less stress on the D.

The
twins would rather shoot them selfs in the head than have a real DH. That's why they cut Ortiz. Besides we're much better off with Jason Tyner at DH.

i'd take him on the A"s
they really need offense. how well has EE played SS/2b in the past, i cant take anymore of that overrated crosby.

also Krivsky/Beane have made a couple trades in the past several months so maybe its possible.

Maybe
if he would take infield practice before the game he would be better? Just a thought. I blame Narron!!!

Twins
Ryan and Krivsky have a close relationship. The Twin shave extra pitchers. How about Scott Baker for Edwin?

Scott Baker blows
You couldn't trade him for a bag of baseballs.

Baker vs. McCarthy
I challenge you to compare these two pitchers' career stats and find much difference between them. The Sox traded McCarthy for John Danks. That's a little better than a bag of baseballs.

Giants
I think you have to assume that if he gets traded the Giants will probably land him.

Sabean is under tremendous pressure to make his team younger and to find possible impact bats.

I wonder what it would take. Encarnacion's value is down at the moment. Perhaps Sanchez and Chulk.

I really only added Chulk because I would like to see him gone. Sabean might have a better shot of getting rid of Chulk if he just tied him to a rock and threw him in the ocean.

That actually
might do it.  We all know how Krivsky loves him those bullpen arms.  ;-)

But it really depends on how deeply entrenched in Narron's doghouse EE is.  I think the kid can be a special, special player, and I'm rooting for him to find an environment in which he can flourish.  That doesn't appear to be in Cincy.
