Speaking of unorthodox deliveries

How about a switch-pitcher.  The New York Times has  a cool article about the only switch-pitcher in D1 baseball (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/06/sports/baseball/06pitcher.html?_r=1&oref=slogin)

He's probably not much of a prospect, but is intriguing enough that he could get drafted.  Thoughts?

Greg Harris
Greg Harris tried that with the Red Sox back in the 90's.  Didn't work very well and, if I recall, he ended up getting injured.

Two, two, two pitchers in one
But it sounds like neither one's a top prospect.  If he can keep working on his game, he could go higher than a late-round flyer, but I'd imagine that's all he'd be.  Once he gets to the pros, that'll be a different story.

Right Handed?
Didn't read the article, but I'd guess from looking at the pictures that he's RH dominant?

I hope so.
He looks like me when I throw lefty.

Rays
The Rays drafted a switch pitcher out of HS a couple years ago, he ended up choosing a JuCo in Florida as I recall, dropped off the map after that.

RTFA
They mention Harris, who was only allowed to do it in his last year, for one inning, as more of a stunt by his manager

As a lefty, he's a side-armer, as a righty, he's much more over the top.  The photo of him pitching from the left side is unflattering, but it's just a fluke of where they caught him in his side-arm delivery.  The video shows that it's very nice.

The article also says that he's had zero trouble getting people out, throwing left-handed (or right-handed, as well) and that he's been doing it since he was three.

My Opinion
I've seen this kid up close and personal for years in the Omaha area and I certainly don't want to bag on a local kid too much, but in my opinion he's very average from both sides, hence the middle relief role.  He's probably low to mid 80's either way.

Those that know the college game know this is not Jim Hendry's Creighton, hasn't been for years and this not the Mo Valley back when Wichita State was competing for the CWS.  This kid a very solid D1 player at a middle of the road talent-wise school in a middle of the road talent-wise conference.  If he gets drafted it will be a late round "favor" pick.
