Johnny Whittleman and fielding

I think it's apparent that Rangers 3B prospect and 2005 2nd round draft pick Johnny Whittleman can not field a baseball to save his life. Still young at age 20, but with 2 errors on opening night, he appears to have not improved over the off season. He committed 34 errors in 2006 with Clinton, and it appears more are to come. Should the Rangers keep him at 3rd? Move to an OF position? It's still early (obviously), but I think a change is needed.

Chill ...
Where the two errors last night really his fault or bad score keeping?  Were the errors caused by the freezing temperatures they played in last night?  Is the infield is in really rough shape?  Was he distracted by some cute girls in the third row?  Was his glove frozen?  So many questions ... so few answers.

The kid is only 20 so he has plenty of time to improve.  I don't think he'll change positions until the Rangers feel he won't improve (which is too early to say right now) or the Rangers need to clear third base for other prospects (not the case at this time).

I believe the best thing to do right now is leave him at third and let him continue learning. Worry about moving to the outfield only when you have to move him.
