Alex Gordon

So Gordon is 0-7 with 4 Ks. I know it's early, and I know this kid has the makeup to withstand a tough start to his young career, so let's get some input on when he'll get his first:

1B
2B
HR

Here's my take:

1st 1B 4/5 off Chad Durbin
1st 2B 4/6 off Mike Maroth
1st HR 4/11 off Tomo Okha

How does he do against Dice-K?

He's a bust.

But seriously, he has lined out right to 1B two times as well, and played pretty good "D".

strikeouts

He struck out 113 times in AA last year. He's going to have a very high K rate this year and it's going to affect his ability to hit for average.

The good thing is that when he does make contact the ball travels pretty far.

Gordon will be fine

Ryan Zimmerman had his early season struggles last year as well. I think his first ML comes tomorrow off Matsuzaka.

..should have spent another 3 months in AAA. He might have hit .500 before getting called up. That would have fixed those 24 at bats.

I don't think anyone's worried about Gordon

And the guy's fortunate - the KC lineup's looking better this year, and that's without the presence of guys like Butler who are still developing. He'll have more RBI opportunities than expected once he starts making more consistent contact.

Every single player has a mini-streak of 0-fers. If I'm wrong, and someone IS panicking, I need to pull off a trade with them stat. :)

Markakis comp

I expect to see a year from Gordon very similar to the one Markakis had last year. Rough start and a slow, steady improvement.

I think it will take some time for him to adjust to MLB pitching, just like it took him some time to adjust to AA ball last year. However, he eventually found his groove and turned in an MVP year, and I think the same will happen this year, minus the MVP.

Gordon Is No Bust

Its only been his first two games against one of the best teams in the league. Your saying hes a bust after the 1st two games?? Gordon will be just fine. Hes playing good defense and fighting off tough pitches.

nobody in this thread said AG was a bust.

people are arguing with an imaginary person.

the original poster (perhaps predicting the rush of sarcastic "lets drop him" posts) explicitly said "I know it's early", and did not say anything about him being a bust.
