John Danks 5th starter

Out of the three candidates for White Sox 5th starter (Gavin Floyd, Charlie Haeger & John Danks), Danks has looked by far the best thus far in spring training. After another stellar appearance today, Danks has yet to walk a batter, and his gound ball to fly ball ratio is great. What do you guys (and girls) think the chances of "long shot" John Danks has of starting the season in the Major Leagues? GM Ken Williams praises JD every chance he gets, I think odds are good.

Danks
has always been young for his level. I don't really think he would have good numbers but also don't think he would implode. He's the type of guy that may breakout a few years later when he's able to finally repeat and be fully comfortable.

I like him and he's a guy I'm thinking of targeting when his numbers get ugly.

Dukes is Jurastically better than Bradley. After all Dukes has been playing baseball ever since T-ball.

yes
danks has a very strongly-established pattern of struggling at each new level for half a season, then coming back and doing well there the next year. the big league jump is the toughest, though, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him take his lumps for a full season or two before he starts to figure things out. he's got time. heck, he's left-handed--my grandkids will probably be watching tony larussa bring him in to retire one batter in the 2030 world series.
