Watching the YES encore presentation at the game, and I have to admit I'm impressed.
He was 90-91 MPH with his fastball the whole time, and I really like how the pitch explodes at the end. It looks like the kind of unimpressive velocity fastball that could survive. Only thing I didn't like is he likes to pitch up in the zone, which we all knew.
He had trouble spotting his breaking ball, but it had nice 12-6 break and he was throwing it in the upper 70's.
His changeup was also spotty, but he threw one or two nice ones.
Guys got alot better stuff than it seems he was ever given credit for, which I've thought for a while. He looks like he got stronger this offseason, which hopefully helps with his velocity. Got to admit I'm excited to see what he can do if he's throwing 90-91 in his first ST work.
