Is Carl Crawford a Top 50 Player...?

Stay connected for news and updates

or even a Top 50 batter?

Crawford has only been an All-Star once, as a reserve in 2004, which says that at least 6 OFs had been voted ahead of him during most years. Granted the All-Star game is largely a popularity contest but Crawford isn't a great fielder (or he'd be in CF), doesn't have a good arm, he is very fast, has average power, and his BA is around .300. He wasn't even a highly touted prospect. I remember people up in arms about a possible trade with the Angels netting Ervin Santana which got me thinking about this.

He's obviously a fantasy stud with his decent power, good average, and great speed. But take off your fantasy blinders here and look at him in real baseball vision.

To me, his status and esteem come a lot from his fantasy value and not necessarily from his play on the actualy field. So, in real baseball is he a Top 50 player or even a Top 50 batter?
