Dice-K's First Start....
I thought I would post this because someone would probably be interested.
Dice-K's first inning...
First batter: College kid lines a double down the first baseline on the first pitch. Straight fastball down the middle.
Second batter: First pitch: outside called strike. Second pitch, low strike, which the batter check swings into the dirt right in front of JV, out 2-3.
Third batter: First pitch, curve ball for a strike. Second pitch: fastball inside, called strike (questionable in my op.) Third pitch, a slight sinker, outside, fouled off. Fourth pitch: fastball clocked at 92 mph, outside, called third strike (another questionable call.)
Fourth batter: First pitch: FB outside. Second pitch: FB, fouled down 3Bline. Third pitch: low in the dirt. Fourth pitch: FB, inside. Called third strike.
Overall impressions: Very efficent arm movement. Dice-K gets a couple of questionable strike calls and learns not to say your first pitch will be a fastball.
He's supposed to throw a second inning. I'll report back on that.

Second Inning.....
Fifth batter: First pitch, big curve, swinging strike. Second pitch, big curve, swinging strike. Third pitch, big curve, in the dirt, ball. Fourth pitch, FB outside and low. Fifth pitch: FB outside and low (92 mph). Sixth pitch: FB into a 4-3 ground out.
Sixth batter: First pitch, FB, inside corner. Second pitch, FB slightly outside edge strike called. Third pitch, FB high. Fourth pitch, shoulder high FB, outside, CALLED THIRD STRIKE.
Seventh Batter: First pitch, big 12-6 curve, in the dirt swinging strike. Second pitch, FB fouled off to the right side. Third pitch, curve ball in the dirt. Fourth pitch, curveball knee high slightly inside, popped out to shallow right field, fielded by 4.
Overall: The curveball has a nice 12-6 drop to it, but it was slighly erratic. I don't want to judge too harshly since it is spring training and he's rusty and we don't know what he's supposed to be working on. He hit 92 on the gun a couple of different times. Remy says he threw the slider and the change up each once, but this untrained eye didn't see it. He threw 25 pitches, 19 for strikes. He struck out three, all three on questionable third strike calls.
Dice-K has arrived. The world still spins.

Actually...
God I know some stupid random shit.
I think it's one
Man...
Good stuff.
One of my favorite astro-physics geeky things is the Goldilocks Zone. There is a range of distance from a star in which the temp. is ideal for life to exist. Go to far from the star, its too cold. Too close, its too warm.
Hence the name based on the fairy tale.
hmmm
Pretty sure

Goldilocks digs Butler, and who am I to argue that?
Only his first outing

His fastest pitch was 94
Remy said 92...
His curve was medicore, and yes he got some VERY questionable calls.

Calls....
Yeah, it was ST against a college team, I'm just saying if someone looked at his line with those Ks, they were really, really questionable. Also, as you point out CL, it was against a college team.
The kid's lead off double was sweet though, you couldn't help but cheer for that kid for taking one off the most hyped thing in Boston since, well I don't know what.
I'm thinking...
That said, I'm a die-hard Sox fan, and even I'm sick of the Matsu-hype.
Agreed, to an extent

Nope not all...
The Dice-K hype is unbelieveable. The one person benefiting from all of his is JD Drew. He's going to get EATEN ALIVE in Boston.
Check for yourself...
But, check for yourself, I think they show two of the called strike threes on MLB's DiceK's highlights.

I'm looking at the highlights....
Upon further review....
Oh, and apparently bears can OWN property in fantasyland. They speak so therefore they can negoiate. The problem is that they don't have pockets to carry their house keys or their Phillip Hughes rookie cards.
ummm
