Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

I Can't Believe He's Not a Prospect...

FABIO CASTRO

From MLB today (Caribbean Series):
Dominican Republic starter Fabio Castro had a crafty hand in the victory. The diminutive southpaw allowed only two hits in five innings before yielding to Santiago Ramirez in the sixth.

"I felt really strong and confident about pitching in such an important game for my country," Castro said. "I just tried to stay ahead in the count and do the best job I could out there."

"Fabio Castro did a fabulous job; all credit goes to him," Fermin said. "He did a great job against a very dangerous team."

Fabio threw 83 pitches, 52 for strikes.  GB/FB 7/4.  Walked 3, K'd 4.

He had great #s for Philly out of the pen last year in limited action as a Rule V guy.  What does he project as and does anyone know more about him?  Yes, yes, I will buy John's book soon.

Don't get me started on Castro
The guy is really solid. He's too short for a lot of people I guess, but he's got quality stuff. I saw him at 90-94 in Frisco and Arlington with three very solid pitches, and he obviously pitched well in Philly. I was very upset at the Rangers for being so close to having control over him, then Daniels giving into Showalter's crap and trading him. It was a very frustrating situation that flew right over the heads of most Rangers fans, I guess because they didn't bother to notice the kind of talent he has and just assumed he's another random, spare middle relief guy.

Fabulous Fabio
That's what we called Fabio his year at Kannapolis.  He was the designated 8th inning guy and was solid all year long.  Saw about 20 Kanapolis games and he looked good consistently.  Gets a little wild from time to time, but was thought of highly by the White Sox when he was taken in the rule V draft.  The White Sox probably assummed they would get him back before the end of spring training, given his size.  Their loss was the randgers and now the Phillies gain.  I think he will be around awhile.
