Do you want to be a baseball blogger?
For the last year I have been writing at Rock Chalk Talk about the KU baseball team. College baseball has a wide following, especially in the power conferences. The Big-12, Pac-10, ACC and SEC. Outside the power conferences many individual schools in the Midwest such as Wichita State, Missouri State, Oral Roberts and Creighton maintain excellent and well supported programs. Anyone who has attended a college game at one of these schools knows there are is no shortage of fans. The University of Arkansas regularly brings in 7,000 for home games. KU has a more modest following, along the lines of 1,000 fans per game, but this number doubles for rivalry series.
The weird part of this story is the surprisingly low level of information out there about college baseball. There are only a few national sites. The mainstream media occasionally covers local teams. There are a handful of bloggers trying to fill in the gaps.
This all leads to the point of this diary. You love baseball. You like to visit blogs. You like to discuss and analysis the game. Consider writing about your local college team. January is a great time to start. The NCAA season starts in February.
Regarding just the Big-12, nine of the confernce schools now have active blogs in the SB Nation's family; however, as far as I am aware, only the excellent Nebraska, Texas Tech and Texas sites have someone covering baseball in depth. If you want to do some blogging about your favorite team there might be a blog out there already that is looking for you. I have not talked with the owners of these sites but I can't imagine them not welcoming news about the baseball teams. You can submit your stories as diaries, or maybe join the regular staff after a time.
Here are the SB Big-12 blogs. If you are interested in blogging about the baseball teams you can write to the individual owners of the sites and see if they are looking for some help in that area. The more baseball coverage the better. That is just a general rule of life.

Hi Abbath
I understand that Big-12 conference games are played at a level that scouts see as roughly equal to High-A ball. I think this would be true of all the power conferences. If you like following prospects there are few better places to do so than keeping up with the better college teams.

Great!
If there are enough Big-12 baseball bloggers out there maybe a site like this would be a good goal for the future:
http://bigtenhardball.blogspot.com/
A central place to share news and analysis. Just a thought.

sorry, should have been "site like"
If you develop a Big-12 site for baseball coverage across the conference, please let me know. I'd love to contribute content to such a site.
