OT - Washington Safety Sean Taylor dies at age 24

Hello everyone,

Word is coming across that Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died from the gunshot wound he suffered in his thigh/groin yesterday in an apparent robbery attempt at his home in Miami, FL.

He never regained consciousness, though there were reports he did squeeze his nurse's hand.

More info. can be found here.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, the Washington Redskins organization, and all who knew him.

RIP Sean Taylor

Me too
He was some kinda athlete. Very strange... should have put up a gate and had better security... should have been with the team perhaps but, if he HAD his girlfriend and kid could have been hurt. Very, very sad to see someone so young go.

RIP kid, I loved watching you play and, we hardly got to know ya.

It was tough
to see Wellington Mara finally succumb after having a good, long life. Can't comprehend what it's like to see someone go out in his prime like that. I will be rooting for the Redskins the rest of this year when they're not playing my Giants.

This is why I wouldn't live in Florida
Too much corruption and crime down there in that state.  Sad that Taylor died, him and Roy Williams are the two most exciting safties in the NFL.

Right
It's not like people get murdered in other states.

I live in DC, and though I hate the Skins, I always liked Taylor's game.  He was a bit of a dirty player, but being a hockey fan I've learned to look past that.  I've run into Taylor twice around town, and the first time he was very pleasant and took a picture with my girlfriend.  The kid was definitely growing up, and it's sad to see him leave behind a girl and a kid.

Roy Williams
Take it from an avid Cowboys fan. Roy Williams sucks! He's the most overrated player in all of pro football. Period.

Having said that, my sympathies to the Taylor family.

I heard Tim Lincecum will win 1 Cy Young & 11 Tim Lincecums. Question is, how many Cole Hamels will he win?

Roy Williams
Roy would be an adequate player as a weakside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme.  As a safety he probably is the most overated player in the league.

If you think
Roy Williams is one of the most exciting safties in the NFL, you need to watch more of Bob Sanders.

Hmmmmmmmm
So his house gets broken into, nobody steals anything.  But they leave a knife on his bed.

A week later, his house gets broken into, nobody steals anything, but he gets shot and killed.

Yet the police can say after two days that there is no connection between these two incidents?  Are you f'n kidding me?

Yeah...
that's pretty shoddy.  I also read where Taylor had become fearful as he was trying to distance himself from his thug friends.

sad
As a Bills fan I will always remember when he absolutely crushed the Bills punter Brian Moorman in the probowl.  It was one of those hits that made you happy DVR existed. I must have watched it 10 times.  He was a rare defensive player who teams had to gameplan for specifically.  The league and its fans will miss him.

RIP Sean Taylor
This guy and the 01-03 Hurricanes introduced me to college football.

I remember trying to imitate this guy when I was a chubby 14/15 year old kid.

It's crazy that someone only five years older than me can have such a promising life taken away. He was turning everything around, and now he's just...gone.

Still, he's probably the most athletic, dominant college safety I've ever seen. Now every single team is looking for their Sean Taylor.
