*REVISED!* COMMUNITY PROSPECT #15 RUN-OFF

Update [2007-11-25 18:29:54 by bobbymcnally]:: POLLING IS CLOSED. MATT WIETERS HAS WON.  This is a revised run-off for a dead-heat in #15, so I don't think we should go to #16 yet.

see though,
this will likely end up a dead heat...how about we declare a winner after 120 votes?

It'll work itself out
Though it's not a bad idea to cap it at X # of votes ahead of time, as long as you announce it early.

Also
once someone makes a really compelling argument for one guy, things will  start to shift.

List
This list and site has become a complete joke. You guys have no credibility and to top it off, you can't even do it right. Leave the list to real experts please.

Hmmm
I see Bobby M stepping in here to do the right thing - holding a runoff of top vote getters for #15, after allowing a 'normal' amount of votes to come in.  It's what should have been originally, instead of the posting poll #16.

Perhaps you can elaborate on what he should have done differently? Or was your comment meant for another thread?

Have to go Marrero here...
I'm still not a full believer in Ellsbury, and Marrero shows the skills to be a 3-4 hitter in the majors, anchoring a lineup. And he did well in A+ even as a teenager, which is impressive.

Then pull your poll
and maybe watch for 50 or so before taking on one yourself.

Well-intentioned or not, controversy follows you continually on here.  Maybe play it extra cool with things like taking on a community poll.

YOU sir
really overreacted to his olive branch comment. Why are you trying to get him pissed off? Take a chill pill, dawg! Smoke it out!

I wasn't suggesting
that you refrain from voting in any polls....just that you not start one until you'd seen a few more play out.  Some of the problems - and solutions - on these polls cycle around predictably, and if you've seen a few dozen go by, it is easier to avoid them in advance.

I'm not attempting to "moderate" anything, just offering some observations and potential solutions based on what I've been seeing in here.  To my knowledge, you and I have never had a spat - but I see you struggle with integration into this community, and would enjoy seeing it be more positive and less negative, since I think you have some good things to offer that get drowned out in controversy sometimes.

Anything else I'm involved in here is to try to provide solutions, and nothing more.

Good day to you.

no problemo
I love the discussions we have on this site, when the train stays on the tracks.

FYI, when I saw this list for the first time, I didn't vote for about 30 polls because everyone else seemed so much more knowledgeable.  So that's the full disclosure on how my mindset works.

Went Ellsbury here
Terrific athleticism, the kind that should keep him in uniform for many years as long as his bat can be mediocre.  And he passed the "mediocree bat test" with flying colors last year.  Is he a good bet to hit like that going forward?  No, probably not.  but he's a better bet to provide gold-glove defense in CF for a decade while hitting his weight, than Marrero is to hit the 25+ HRs that will be needed to   justify his stay in RF or 1B.  If Marrero were in AAA already I'd think differently, but those 2 extra levels he must clear makes me go with the more "sure thing" of Ellsbury here.

And if Ellsbury can match his 75% PECOTA, then it's gravy.

i dont know if there is pro-wieters vote stuffing,
but wieters was about 4 pts down at 1 point, but is now 2 points up--doesn't makes sense
