couple of really great systems coming up
trying to cure the boredom of researching the mid-level teams of the world?

I remember how bored you were last year trying to come up with 20 for the Mets, any significant changes this year?

Haha
If John was bored coming up with 20 Mets last year, I'm sure he'll be nodding off trying to come up with 20 Astros this year.  Yikes!

Cheesecakes?
You might consider throwing a cheesecake or two in there to lighten things up a bit.

thanks

Well we'll see a sub top 20 Mets farm system
John will probably say the exact same thing about Gomez this year as he did last year.  Great tools but not sure about Power.

the mets system is getting strong
At the very lower levels. Once you get to the full season leagues, it sucks. But since John isn't big on ranking 16 and 17 year olds, I suspect his top 20 will be drastically different than Baseball America's.

Reds
they have a top 5 farm system. The star power at the top makes up for lack of depth and the depth isn't even that bad.

Tigers isn't that strong
outside of Maybin who has a lot of questions and Porcello there isn't much since the Renteria trade took Gorkys and Jurrjens.

Andrew Miller
Won't qualify for the lists, but is still in many ways a prospect.  So, they've got 3 very good or great prospects, and it isn't as strong after that.  There are a few guys down there (like James Skelton) who have some upside, just not on the level of the big three.

The Mets system
I believe the Mets farm system is better than people give them credit for.  The problem is that they have gone the safe route and tried to draft at positions who are overvalued in the FA market.  Rather than gambling on higher-risk players, the Mets have stockpiled a number of surer bets in the form of relievers and back-end starters.  Scott Linebrink is coming off a poor season and is getting 4 years/$19 Million.  Joe Smith can do that for 1/10 of the price.  I also have a feeling that the Mets strategy will change in upcoming years as Omar Minaya is seeing that the league is all bark and no bite when it comes to the issue of slotted bonuses and the fact that they will likely have 2 first round picks next year.  That is something else that has been lost in discussing the Mets system is that they have lost a number of high picks as compensation for signing Type A and B players
