Last Year's Top 100...

I've been going back to this list whether because I'm in a discussion about the quality of this year's list vs last years, or if I'm looking back to see where we slotted certain players who have similar profiles to players we're slotting now (Bruce and Snider come to mind).

I think
The depth is the difference. Look at 11-30 for that list and put yourself in the mindset you were in at the time (i.e. don't consider if a guy got hurt following the list) and then look at who will make 11-30 this year.

Well, the interesting thing
is how much stronger the group in the 20s turned out to be than anybody else. Lincecum, Gallardo and Braun all now appear to be legitimate stars just a hair-breadth away from being superstars. This is in marked contrast to the people at the top of the list. I think Gordon, Young, and Matsuzaka actually, will all come back but the top of the list still seems remarkably weak compared to some of the gems hidden in the middle.

I dunno really...
I look at the guys we're voting on now, at 13, and I think they all stack up well with the 11-30s from last year. I mean guys like McCutchen, Votto, Wood, Marrero, Headley, Davis, Antonelli...just to name a few. I think this year's crop is pretty strong, and deep, which isn't something I would've said when we started the process, but as we go, I'm always surprised at who is still on the board.

Not to mention...
guys like Pearce, De Los Santos, Truinel, Cuerto, Schafer.

That's 12 names just off the top of my head that measure up well with the 11-30 from last year. So I'm not sure where the idea that this list is weak came from.

To me,...
it seems that last year was more top heavy while I think this year will be more balenced. I don't think there will be as many presumed superstar prospects as last apart from the 1st few due to the large amount of graduations. I'm not saying that there won't be any superstars in this class just that right now they seem a little more hidden and underdeveloped.

I don't mind Bruce at 14
but Snider at 50 is a bit surprising.. he'll be a bit higher this year.

is it me or..
Is Chris Marrero not on this list? If not wow he shot up.  Also surprising that Buchholz was at 61.  he is top 5 matireal this year
Felix for Cy Young.

YES
I feel really good about what I remember saying in last years blogs, how we would regret rating Buchholz so low.   - pats self on back -  Then again, I wasn't touting Joba, so I'm not perfect either (though I did say he was a better prospect than Betances)
Hey fish, leave those kids alone!

well if you havent learned yet
you guys go crazy every year about whos better etc. and then everything changes like crazy from one year to the next.  Prospects are so volatile that anything can change.

Last year everyone was talking about Hughes the way they are talking about Buchholz now... Hughes was called up got injured had some adjustment issues, buchholz dominated the minors got called up threw a no no and now hes the man.  If buchholz struggles this year and delin betances dominantes all of a sudden no one will care about buchholz and will only care about betances.

In general people who talk aout prospects need to get a little more perspective about them.

Amen brother!
Totally agree!!!

Hughes/Buchholz
I don't know how many people would have Buchholz rated ahead of Huges right now. The reason Buchholz is getting all of the propect hype is because he's still a prospect.

i think
you get my point though

I dont want to argue semantics

+1
I wish everyone around here shared your beliefs.  A majority of those players might not even make it to the big leagues at all, so let's take a step back and relax.
