Nate Schierholtz in '08
Anybody else with me that he could be a very productive player in 2008? This kid just keeps on hitting...two months ago there was a post on here about him and I compared him to a Johnny Damon type hitter...and I am going to continue that comparison. With a giants offense that is sorely looking for a boost, he could be a fine contributor I think.
Thanks.

Johnny Damon?
Schierholtz is .305/.353/.504. Very dissimilar.

Big Point
Not a dis respect to nate's abilities but, to be fair, a comparison of him and damon statistically is almost totally INVALID. Johnny Damon never had a chance to have a ggod year at AA when he was 22 or a good year at AAA when he was 23 like Nate because well...he was already a big leaguer! Nate had a nice year at AAA last year at the age of 23 and I like him. I think he has a chance to be as good as some guys i look at as decent/ good regular RF's like Victorino, Teahen, Swisher maybe but, he is NOT going to be as good a player as Johnny Damon.
In fact his power is the ONLY thing he may be able to do better than Damon. Damon's game, of course, was/is multi-faceted... Great D in Center, Hitting skills, modest pop and speed. Even IF Nate was as good of a hitter ( and i dont think he is) he's not a CF.

Comps
I think Nate's in danger of becoming the classic "tweener," not enough pop to play consistently at a corner OF position, not enough speed/defense/OBP to play CF.
