Zumaya's "accident"

Detroit radio host Mike Valenti read it first on the air today but it looks like big Z may have been caught red handed on this one.  Eye witness accounts have it that Zumaya was riding a four wheeler at imperial dunes in southern california when he got into an accident.  Should be interesting as to what comes out about this but once the story broke on ESPN someone in the comments section wrote the real story and couldn't believe the fudge job on it.  Accuracy when into as much detail as the license plate number of the four wheeler and the specific model he was driving.  Hopefully, by tomorrow i'll have more details on this to follow it up.

kind of obvious
most of these "fell in the bathtub" stories are just PR jobs. Knew a PR guy and they had fun with this.

I think the bathtub one was a code for injured hand in barfight. Can't remember though.

"Flu-like Symptoms"...
...is always a favorite of mine.  Pounding head, stomach feels terrible, just want to lie in bed for a few more hours.  Do you have the flu?  No, "flu-like symptoms."  In other words, hung over.

yeah, always liked that one
and the bathtub/barfight was another good one.

LOL
Used this one myself Pedro, freshman year of college, broke my hand on some guy's face in a pick up football game and missed all of fall ball.  Told coach I slipped in the shower.

Damn senior CF ratted on me.  I drilled him all the time in intersquad that spring, we got along real well. :)

Heh
The fact that baseball players constantly get horrific injuries doing everyday normal things which you or I could do every day for a lifetime without even a scratch never ceases to amaze me.

Hahaha, I recall one where someone stabbed themselves with a cutting knife or something? These are always a laugh because it's so obvious that they're made-up.

How about Bob Ojeda?
Bob Ojeda, the ace left-hander of the Mets, suffered a career-threatening injury yesterday when an electric hedge clipper nearly severed the upper part of his left middle finger as he was trimming the honeysuckle bushes at his home in Port Washington, L.I. (1998)

He was also in the boat with Tim Crews and Steve Olin in March 1993.

Mike Matheny
Didn't Mike Matheny cut himself with a buck knife he got for a birthday gift one year when he was with the Cardinals?

what about Mark Pawlak
The Cubs first rounder from 2005, he tripped over his PS2 and broke his arm.

Non-throwing arm
although it did hurt his Guitar Hero ability.
