College signees
Hey all--
Where do I find a list of the signings of high school players? I looked at Baseball America already and they only allow you to look at things if you are a subscriber.
I have read so far that North Carolina had the top recruiting class and that Tim Beckham signed with USC.
Maybe we could come up with a list below of where the high schoolers have signed and what chances you give them of attending those schools. I know it all depends upon where they get drafted in June, but it seems that most players are taking the money and skipping college.

Martin
What are the odds that he actually goes to Clemson instead of hitting the draft?

He's ranked in PG's top 10
The north Georgia boy shouldve signed with UGA though.

UGA/Clemson
And Clemson is a perennial contender, too, if he really goes the college route.
Thanks for your input -- I'm rather new to following this stuff, and seeing Ethan has gotten me interested.

other guys
Garrett May, a solid middle infielder from Lassiter HS in Marietta
apparently Panama City, FL LHP Brett DeVall, a top 10 overall national prospect, has also committed to UGA but thats the first I've seen of it
I also forgot to mention UNC signing Winston-Salem, NC SS Garrison Lassiter, who was a HS teammate of current Carolina freshman Greg Holt. Both of those guys are well-regarded.

scouting reports
#3 prospect in GA, #8 in Nation, Michael Palazzone, RHP, Lassiter HS in GA

Michael Palazzone is a 2008 RHP with a 6'3'', 190 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Lassiter HS. He has a lean projectable build that should continue to get stronger as he matures. Palazzone has a fluid delivery with a backward shoulder tilt and a true over the top release point. He gets outstanding downward plane and leverage to the plate and the ball comes out his hand easily. Palazzone's curveball is simply the best in the 2008 class and the best in many other classes past and future. It is big and sharp and nasty and has straight down 12/6 break that makes it very difficult to make contact with. Usually a big downer curveball is the hardest pitch to control but that's never been a problem with Palazzone. Palazzone usually throws in the low 90's during regular games and topped out at 94 mph during the short showcase outing. His 81 mph change up is also a potential plus pitch and doesn't get the recognition that his curveball does but is a legit weapon as well.
#4 prospect in GA, #17 in Nation, Xavier Avery, OF, Cedar Grove HS in GA (football recruit)and possibly baseball

Xavier Avery is a 2008 OF with a 6'0'', 185 lb. frame from Decatur, GA who attends Cedar Grove HS. He has an athletic build with solid overall strength. Avery is the fastest player in the country. He ran a 6.17 60, the fastest every recorded at a Perfect Game event, and was 4.02 to first base on a full swing. Avery has game impact speed and the instincts to use it, especially on the bases. Where Avery has improved the most is with the bat. He has a chance to become a Carl Crawford type player with the bat speed and rapidly improving power that he's been showing. Avery has strong/quick hands and had no problem dealing with low 90's fastballs in game situations. Defensively, Avery is also a Crawford type player; he obviously has the speed to cover huge amounts of ground.
#7 prospect in GA, #76 in Nation, Cecil Tanner, RHP, Ware County HS in GA
Cecil Tanner is a 2008 RHP with a 6'6", 190lb frame from Waycross GA, who attends Ware County HS. Cecil Tanner has a great frame, low 90's FB, projects large, stood out at the East Coast Professional Showcase.
#8 prospect in GA, #87 in Nation, Jay Austin, OF, North Atlanta HS in GA

Joseph (Jay) Austin is a 2008 OF/P with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Atlanta, GA who attends North Atlanta HS. He has a lean, greyhound type body. Austin has outstanding running speed at 6.20 in the 60 and runs easily and effortlessly. Austin has huge range in centerfield and has more arm strength than he showed in drills. Offensively, Austin has fast twitch hands and some present strength. Austin's speed is an impact tool but he's big and strong enough with enough raw bat speed to drive the ball and attack it aggressively. The tools are in there to develop into a high level hitter. Often overlooked in Austin's package is that he's a projectable left handed pitcher with a 90 mph fastball and a hammer 76 mph curveball, although he doesn't pitch frequently and is still raw mechanically. As an athlete, Austin has all the tools and could blossom.
#9 prospect in GA, #93 in Nation, Chase Davidson, 1B/3B, Milton HS in GA

Chase Davidson is a 2008 1B/3B/OF with a 6'5'', 216 lb. frame from Alpharetta, GA who attends Milton HS. He has a very well proportioned and extremely strong build for his age. Comparisons to Jim Thome are common for Davidson both because of his strength and approach at the plate. He showed the ability in batting practice to lift the ball out to LCF and also to hit 450+ moon balls to right field. Defensively, Davidson is agile around the bag and is probably athletic enough, especially with his arm strength, to play corner outfield with work.
#4 prospect in VA, #111 in Nation, Peter Verdin, OF, Paul VI HS in VA

Peter Verdin is a 2008 OF/RHP with a 6'0'', 190 lb. frame from Alexandria, VA who attends Paul VI HS. He has an athletic build with good strength and excellent body life. Verdin's speed/arm strength tools rank with the best in the country. His slowest time from home to first was 4.06 according to BA and he can fly on the bases. Verdin threw 94 mph during outfield drills with a long, loose arm that gets excellent low online carry to the bases. Offensively, Verdin has the bat speed and strength to drive the ball to the gaps, and with his speed turns doubles into triples and 6-3 putouts into singles.
#8 prospect in MA, #447 in Nation, Blaine O'brien, RHP, Scituate HS in MA
Blaine O'brien is a 2008 RHP with a 6'7", 200+lb frame from Scituate MA who attends Scituate HS. He's a hard throwing RHP that will need to be followed closely
#41 prospect in GA, #486 in Nation, Jonathon Taylor, OF, North Cobb HS in GA

Jonathon Taylor is a 2008 OF with a 5'9'', 180 lb. frame from Acworth, GA who attends North Cobb HS. He has a short, compact build with good present strength. Taylor is the consumate leadoff hitter; a Juan Pierre type of player with a better idea of the strike zone than Pierre has ever had. He has an outstanding feel for what his skills and strengths are. Taylor ran the 60 in 6.53, which is very good but not exceptional, but was 3.98/4.01 down to first base. He has the same type of acceleration in centerfield and on the bases. Taylor gets very good jumps in centerfield and has great range.
#24 prospect in VA, #582 in Nation, Levi Hyams, 3B, Colonial Forge HS in VA
Levi Hyams is a 3B/SS/OF with a 6'2" 180lb. frame from Stafford VA, who attends Colonial Forge HS in VA.

Highlights from that link include scouting reports on Illinois and Oregon States signees as well as the news of top 5 national prospect Gerrit Cole (an Orange Co, CA RHP) signing with UCLA.
In additon to Cole UCLA brought in 6-foot 170 INF Cutter Dykstra, Allen's son. Also in that class are 5-10 INF Tyler Rahmatullah (a vet of team USA's HS national team) and well-regarded INF/RHP Chris Amezquita
Oregon State brought in Devin Shepard, a former 5th round pick of the Twins from Oxnard, CA, who oringially went to Oklahoma before quitting in the middle of the spring and transferring to Southern NEvada CC.
Oregon State also got BJ Hermsen out of Iowa, who is well regarded.
Ole Miss signed Matt AND Mike Synder from Centerville, VA, who I believe are the brothers of former Orioles 1st rounder Brandon Snyder, who interestingly signed w rival LSU before going pro. I think their father played in the bigs.
Ole Miss also got big-deal Cartersville, GA, catcher Taylor Hightower.
Fullerton signed INF Tyler Pill, younger brother of their former standout Brett Pill.

Others
Hicks' talented HS teammates Ray Hanson (a 6-8 RHP) and Zach Wilson committed to Arizona State. Hanson has been ranked among the best in CA and top 100 or so nationally.
Another guy from that team, Jake Thompson, who has been ranked in the tops of CA and top 50 nationally, committed to Long Beach State.
U of Arizona picked up 94 mph arm Anthony Gose from Bellflower, CA.

Vandy and Kentucky
Louisville and Kentucky both missed out on Zach Cox, a 3b from Pleasure Park, KY, who was also an East Coast Pro top 10 prospect. He is going to Arkansas.
Vandy has Smyrna, TN curveballer Sonny Gray committed. He was another East Coast Pro Showcase top 10 kid.
Another guy from the top 10 at that event is Sarasota, FL shortstop Casey Kelley who has quarterback offers from Duke, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon, North Carolina and Rutgers and has seen interest from West Virginia. Hes listed at 6-2 191 while running a 4.6 40.
The others from the top 10 at that event were national top 10 guys Beckham, Pallazone, Meyer, Martin and Melville
