The following are eligible rule 5 draft players in the Yankees system
According to Rob Neyer's Transaction Primer, these are the rules:
A player not on a team's Major League 40-man roster is eligible for the Rule 5 draft if: the player was 18 or younger when he first signed a pro contract and this is the fourth Rule 5 draft since he signed, OR if he was 19 or older when he first signed a pro contract and this is the third Rule 5 draft since he signed.
This comes out to signing at 18 or younger in 2004 or 19 or older in 2005:
AAA Scranton Wilkes Barre
Eric Duncan
Steven White
AA Trenton
(?) Jeffrey Marquez
Marcos Vechionacci
A+ Tampa
Tim Battle
These are the ones I am sure about...are there any others? Who should be protected on the 40-man here?
My votes go to Vech, Duncan, and White, and to dump Wright, DeSalvo, and Villone
Poll
Who should be protected with a 40-man spot?
Jeffrey Marquez (20 votes)
Tim Battle (2 votes)
Chase Wright (15 votes)
Matt DeSalvo (5 votes)
Eric Duncan (21 votes)
Steven White (4 votes)
