Joel Zumaya Out for Half of 2008 with Shoulder Injury

http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20071101&content_id=2290 421&vkey=pr_det&fext=.jsp&c_id=det

Apparently he hurt his shoulder moving personal items due to the Southern California wildfires. This after hurting himself playing too much Guitar Hero. What's with the freak accidents? Looks like Todd Jones will stay the closer in Detroit after all.

Explanation
Zumaya was in a rush to get out, and awkwardly grabbed his PS3 and brand new copy of GHIII....
Jay Bruce can DISAPPEAR

I sympathize with Joel...
I just got GH3 and my left arm is stiff as hell from playing too much.

first time
I played guitar hero for the first time this weekend - I wasn't impressed.

There was some good music, but eh.

I especially didn't like how the game is completely prejudiced against lefties.  I was forced to play right handed because the game doesn't allow you (or the people I was playing with didn't know how) to change the settings and let me flip the guitar over without everything being backwards.

Must of
been trying to do a windmaill power chord ala Townshend
You realize that prospect lists have a time horizon of like 5-10 years, not 5-10 days, right?

let's take it easy on joel
it's not like he was goofing around with a video game this time.........i think given the situation he can be excused for over doing it......not much tact being shown here

i would be shocked if the tigers go into 2008 with jones as their closer.......there are better options out their.........a couple corderos are available and either would be a great fit

well if you want one Cordero
you would have to trade Miller or Maybin for him and the other one is going to cost 10 million a year and wants 4 or 5 years.

Huh?
I don't think the Tigers would trade Maybin for both Corderos.  It won't take much to Chad who is pretty average as far as closers go.  Francisco will be staying in Milwaukee.

well the Mets wanted Chad this year
Bowden wanted both Gomez and Humber which would possibly equal Maybin or Miller.

No way either
of those two is moved for a closer.  Any closer.

Bowden
There's a point to this.  Bowden won't move Cordero unless he knows he's getting a great deal.

Bowden won't move anyone unless
He's getting a great deal. If Bowden agrees to a deal, you know you're getting screwed.

it was all over the air waves
on the trading deadline.  The Mets weren't going to move Gomez as a PTBNL as he was considered one of the Mets 6 untouchables, Humber was off that list.

air waves = rumors
do you have a link? sounds like speculation to me

cordero can be had

by Wheelhouse on Nov 1, 2007 11:27 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm with Bravesin07 on this one
Everything I heard about Cordero said that Bowden wanted an arm and a leg for him. It would probably take a stud prospect to get him, absurd as that is.

No way
I would never do that.  Miller and Maybin?

A logical
destination for Eric Gagne seems to be DET. My bet is 3 yrs/30MM
