Jordan Schafer Injured

http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=622

sounds like his AFL season is over.....hopefully everything is cool and it's not long-term

overall a great season for the kid - his OPS jumped up massively on the strength of 74 XPH.....i wouldn't be shocked to see him in the majors by mid-season

Schaffer
I believe it was a concussion.

here:
Jordan Schafer returned to action in the AFL on Tuesday and went 1-for-4 with a walk.
Schafer left Saturday's game because of a mild concussion.  Oct. 17 - 3:54 p.m. ET

as for midseason
i'd be a bit surprised.  That said, Atlanta's pushed kids hard before, so who knows, but I think he could use a full year before bringing him up.  Who knows how Wren feels, though.

Pff
You got me worried for a bit until I clicked on the link. :-)

He had a mild concussion almost a week ago, and the report at the time was "not expected to miss much time". I see now that he's back in the lineup and doing okay.

He's the primary reason the Braves won't go after a big name for CF. They'll get a glove guy (perhaps even bringing back Willie Harris and giving Francoeur a couple starts there early next year) and see how quickly they can push Schafer.

Of course, his performance during the rest of the AFL season will inform this decision, and if he crashes and burns (unlikely IMO), they'll probably get a guy they won't mind having out there for a full year or two.

(OTOH, Frank Wren may have a different philosophy to Scheurholtz when it comes to pushing prospects; have to wait and see on that front, I suppose....)
