Strat O Matic

Hey guys:
Any Strat o Matic players out there?
I'm new to Strat, but I've kind of been bitten by the "bug"...

Where do Strat guys hang out online?
Do you play the Computer game version, the original dice, or the online stuff at SportingNews.com?

If you play multiple versions, I'd love to know what the pros and cons are.

Thanks for any help/advice/suggestions

Strat league
Well there is lot of independent leagues that are face to face or computer(I presume there are far more computer leagues at this point but I dont know).  I participate in a computer league(about to finish my 4th year).  It is a very active 24 team league.  Most of the league netplays and we are a salary league.  I think the league will be going into it's 9th year.

We actually have a couple openings so if you have interest let me know.  Here is our league web page.

'Tis a mighty fine league, indeed.

yep
I'm an owner in this league.  I've been in for three years and its easily the best one I've found.  The commish is fantastic, the web site is the real deal, and netplaying close to 160 games a year is fantastic.  Throw in player contracts, a draft and a real FA money system where you bid on players against other real people and it puts this league in a class of its own.

Thanks...
Appreciate the invite...  I'm cutting my teeth, so to speak, playing the dice game with my 9yr old or solitaire, and trying out sportingnews.com

If I'm really locked in, I may have to go for the PC version as well.  Will let you know if I get to that point.

If it wasn't for disappointments, I wouldn't have any appointments.

Playing for 15 years
I'm in the longest running league in the world as far as we know. It's called the USBA and has had owners all around the country, Canada and the UK.

Most are PC players but we still have some dice rollers.

Somworld is a nice Strato website.

I won't get married until the Red Sox win the World Series. AGAIN!!

Dice League
I started a Dice League with a friend of mine after his cross country practise got rained out in 1988. That league is still going strong today as we are just about to meet up for the Season 28 World Series:)

I started with Strat-O and he started with Persue the Pennant. We used dice and kept our own stats back then. Eventually I moved to PTP and then Dynasty League (designdepot.com). As we got older, time became more valuable and I'm sure we wouldn't still be up and running if not for the computer version of the game. We're waaaaaaaayyyyyyy behind as it is, just finishing the first of four seasons on the 2004 cards.

Overall, I like Dynasty League the best. It's got the most realism and it's very easy to see how the cards impact the play. The drawback for the mainstream is, there is no simulation mode, so you've got to play each and every game.

I also play Baseball Mogul. That's a good "GM" type simulation.

Not so fast!
Just to clear it up, I'm one of the charter members of the Empire League, which has been playing continuously since 1983. However, I'm pretty sure there are leagues that have played much longer than that. I would be surprised if there weren't more than a few leagues that have been around for 30-35 years.

This site is my fav Strat site and has links to pretty much everything else.

Good luck. It's fun.

Dynasty Baseball since 1987
The EJMA has been in existence since 1987 using Pursue the Pennant then Dynasty Baseball.

I've only been involved in the league for 2 years

Great group of owners

Forget Jobo !!! I do it myself
