Slot suggestions

Hi All,

I am currently trying to write an article on the effectiveness of the MLB slotting system, but have only been able to find information on  BA of the slotting reccommendations for the last two drafts.  Does anyone know where I could find the slot recommendations for drafts before 2006?

Thanks,

Brian

This article doesn't give the exact slot recommendations, but it traces this history of MLB's slotting system and may prove useful.

I think it's only a matter of time
That teams that pass on superior talent because its cost will be over slot will realize that this whole slot recommendations thing is costing them more compensation they gain for losing than they think. Teams like the Tigers and they Yankees are laughing all the way to the bank. They get the top talent while not having to lose. Sure, maybe you're not losing that much when you take the #2 talent instead of the #1, but that's dwarfed when the winning team in your division that just missed the playoffs makes an absolute steal; and it happens draft, after draft, after draft.

If all teams cooperated, maybe Selig's plan isn't so bad. In fact, I'd say it's very good. But when it doesn't happen, as expected, the plan sucks. Really, really sucks. If it keeps happening in the next few drafts, it'll do long term damage to baseball on the macro level and seriously alter its future.

Good idea for an article though. I wish I was able to help.
