Pelfrey and Balentien
Hey guys, I'm sorry for doing this, but there's a trade proposal that I'm waivering on and I want the board's opinion.
I've been offered Travis Snider in return for Mike Pelfrey and Wladimir Balentien. I have really good pitching depth and probably wouldn't use Pelfrey.
I'm not sure if I believe in Balentien's season, since it kind of came out of nowhere.
Snider is a potential stud, and I'm strongly considering pulling the trigger, even knowing he's a teenager below AA
BTW, this is a points league, not a roto league.
Thanks in advance

i would say no
I'll base it on Balebtiens having a real good year in a tough place to play and that he is just 23 and has a full 7-8 years of his prime to play.
Snider is a good, young hitting prospect but, Im not sure that tghey have the same power potential or is Vlad's isnt a tick higher. Snider isnt that much better enough to do that deal I dont think.

Disagree
Balentien's knocking on the door to the majors and he's almost certainly at least a .270/.350/.500 type guy. That's valuable, and there's a good chance 2008 and 2009 will lead people to begin revising Snider's potential down to that level (although the Rogers Centre helps his ultimate major league projection). Additionally, the leap forward Wlad made this past year was nothing short of incredible. For years his raw power's ranked with anyone in the minors, and this past year he showed he can actually make adjustments to become a legit major league hitter. He hasn't tapped out his ceiling yet, though he'd have to make another set of adjustments to get there.
I think people get a little too caught up envisioning limitless potential in guys doing well in Low A. As promising as Snider is, there's a long way between where he is now and where people are projecting him to end up. No guarantee he makes those adjustments.
I'd keep your prospects, but that's just me.
