Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Weeks v Kinsler

I'd like to see how others compare these 2 guys.  I'll be honest, I really haven't gotten a chance to see Kinsler play, so have nothing to go besides the stats.  From what I've read, neither one is going to win a gold-glove anytime soon but does Kinsler have a chance to become a decent glove?  Assume that Weeks stays at 2b.  What would be comps for them?  Kinsler = ?, Weeks = Kent with speed or is that way off?

Kinsler
Ian Kinsler, I've watched him for many years. Went to high school here in AZ. Funny thing is he played on the same high school teams as Scott Hairston, Shelley Duncan, Chris Duncan and was never anything special. Now he may carve out a better career than those heralded "stars".

I don't think he will put up the uber stats that some predict. His numbers will be inflated because of Texas, but I think he'll be along the lines of 15-25 homers and .280-.290 BA most years. Very solid, but no Jeff Kent.

Weeks, I keep waiting for to breakout. Everything seems in place for him to be a star. I remember thinking the same thing about Shawan Dunston though too.

uhh
second that, give me weeks...he'll give you the speed and i am confident that he can be a 20-20 guy soon. i think that he has the talent to do better than that though..

Weeks is shaky
I have to admit, I don't remember seeing a worse fielding 2Bman (based on errors/mishandles) than when I saw Weeks in six games or so vs the Twins.  Hold it.  Maybe Sax or Knoblauch when they could no longer throw to first.

I can't recall his range precisely, but I don't remember being impressed by it.  Suffice it to say, if those six games are even somewhat indicative of his fielding, I would stay away from Weeks.
