Eastern League Season Tickets?
After making the move out to Boston, I realized that the Connecticut Defenders (the AA affilate of the Giants) are also about an hour from my office. Thanks to all of you, I picked out a nice 25 game schedule of tickets for the PawSox and am looking to compliment that with ten games with the Defenders. I already have tickets for the all star game there but am trying to round out the schedule. I think I know the relative depths of the systems, but I'm having a hard time nailing down which guys will be where next year and if they will be in AA. So, I'm asking again for your help.
You can vote for as many as you like and I believe that all teams made the list. If you could, please let me know a few thoughts concerning your votes, so that I can help make decisions.
The Giants system looks pretty weak, except for Linceum and don't know where the giants plan to play him next year.

Pirates
but pitching wise, near the end of the year bucholz and bowden should get the call for boston to AA.........alternatively, slowey from minny should be at AA early in the year........lofgren from the indians should be at AA all year - i saw him at high A last year and he looked special.......oh, and carrasco from the phillies could be at AA if they want to keep pushing him
if snider ends up at AA by the end of the year for toronto (i would not be surprised at all) he's a must see.......
basically you can't go wrong if you stay away from the nats!
Defenders.
Beyond that, it's hard to imagine the Defenders having a very good team. Last year's high A San Jose Giants team won their division and went to the playoffs, but mostly with a bunch of career minor leaguers. A couple of their relievers, Brian Anderson and Justin Hedrick have a chance to eventually make a major league bullpen, but aren't too exciting to see.
It will be interesting to see which of last year's disappointing Defenders will be promoted to AAA and which will be held back. Those names would include Nate Schierholtz, Travis Ishikawa, Eddy Martinez-Esteve and Brian Horwitz. Schierholtz actually played pretty well when fully healthy. Eddy M-E hit well before he went down with left shoulder surgery and Horwitz hit well after his promotion from SJ. Ishikawa had a terrible AA season, but curiously hit well in a short emergency callup to SF and showed a very sweet swing.
Connecticut
Fisher Cats
I've seen many great pitching performances here by: Adam Miller, Liriano, Verlander, Garza & Hughes.
Also, if you're interested in ss-A ball, the Lowell Spinners (Red Sox) are located about 25 mins south of Manchester.
I could go on & on, because there is a ton of Baseball here in the Northeast.
As for the Pawsox tix, I never have a problem getting tix @ the window, but now that I've mentioned it...
I managed to make it to many games last year & took a few pictures & some video clips. You can see them here.
Let me know if you need any help getting around.
Peace!

Indians AA - Akron Aeros!
brock20 - the Aeros will likely be an interesting team to watch next year, as highly-touted pitching prospect, LHP Chuck Lofgren, should be at AA Akron for most, if not all, of next year.
Other highly-touted starting pitching prospects like RHP Joe Ness, RHP Jensen Lewis, and LHP Scott Lewis should be there for good parts of the year as well.
There's a possibility that other starting pitching prospects like RHP J.D. Martin could be there to start the year (though I suspect he'll be at Buffalo at some point in 2007, maybe even to start the year.)
Bullpen-wise, it's possible LHP Tony Sipp could start back at AA Akron again to open 2007, only because the Indians' bullpen is stacked with veterans, which pushed bullpen prospects like LHP Rafael Perez and LHP Juan Lara to AAA Buffalo, so I'm not sure there is a roster spot available for Sipp at Buffalo to start 2007. He could be at Akron for the first month or two.
Offensively, with the outfield logjam in the Indians' farm system, it's possible OFers Brian Barton and Trevor Crowe could start the year at AA Akron, though I doubt that either will be there past June, especially if they continue to hit at AA like they did at the end of last year.
I would think at some point, 1B Stephen Head should be up at AA Akron - despite his poor numbers at High-A Kinston last year, some were thinking he was starting to turn it around last year due to a new approach at the plate (he hit over .300 both in the final few weeks of the regular season and in the Carolina League playoffs.)
Speaking of 1B, if Michael Aubrey could stay healthy (a sizable IF,) he would likely be at Akron as well.
Others to watch for are speedster OF Jose Constanza and Carolina League Player of the Year OF Jordan Brown - both should be at Akron (possibly to start the year.)
Hopefully, this helps you better evaluate the Indians' AA affiliate, the Akron Aeros. I think they'll be a very interesting team to watch in 2007.
Take care and have a great day!
