Colton Willems, P - WAS

I have to decide whether or not to add him to my minor roster. He'd probably replace either Jason Bergmann or Marcos Carvajal.

Willems seems to have had a rough start in the GCL rookie league. Batters are hitting about .340 against him although he has a 3.40 ERA. He has only K'd 8 batters in 16 inning admittedly a very small sample size.

There's nothing here which would suggest that he's a good replacement for either Carvajal or Bergmann. Does anyone have more information?

I haven't seen him pitch as a pro, though he was impressive as a high schooler. Not absolutely electric, but a surprisingly refined repertoire for a high-school pitcher with plus velocity and location. He reminds me a lot of Josh Johnson. The rough pro start doesn't surprise me. The Nats admitted he was a long-term prospect when they signed him. So if you're wanting an ETA for big-league arrival I really couldn't say. It could be awhile. From a real-world perspective though, he will be worth the wait.
