After being out of the lime-light for months Bagwell has finally reemerged. In a good segment before the SD vs Hou Bagwell talked about what he is up to.
He said his family always goes to SD for the summer to escape the Texas heat and this time since he is not playing he joined them. He is leading a normal life being a father and working out twice a day. He is left with a big choice. He can have a fairly risky surgery that could damage nerves destroying his shoulder muscles, have a shoulder replacement, or retire and live with small to severe pain. It sounded like shoulder replacement is out and I would think he will retire and only have surgery to improve his quality of life.
He said time heals old wounds, speaking about his relationship toward Drayton(Owner). He said he misses his fellow players the most and playing at a high level(not the last two years). He spoke about feeling without his normal purpose and I felt he is just finally coming to terms with himself.
I was exited to hear that he is coming back to Houston later this week and will be with the team down the last few months off and on. I also was very excited to hear he wants to do something with the Astros for the future, but he doesn't know what just yet.
The interview was a great suprise for me. Bagwell is my favorite player and was the reason I enjoyed baseball when I was younger til today. I am glad he will be back, since no one has heard from him since the opening weekend.
What will Bagwell be doing in 6 years?
