Allison suffers another OD
I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else, but, according to a Boston Globe article: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/minors/articles/2006/08/10/ex_peabody_star_allison_suffers_her oin_overdose/?p1=MEWell_Pos1
former high school phenom and Marlins 1st round pick Jeff Allison overdosed on heroin early this week. He was released from the hospital a day after he was brought in.
Anyway, sad story. I'd guess this will probably all but close the book on a bright pitching future that might have been.

Aww geez.
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2545634
The newspaper obtained a report from Medford police, which claimed that Allison was found lying unconscious on the bathroom floor of a two-story home Monday afternoon. Heroin was cited as the cause of Allison's condition.
Allison, 21, was taken to Winchester Hospital and released the same day, according to the newspaper.
A friend of his, who was quoted in the article, said that not pitching hasn't really helped him. I quote: "He screwed up a few times before, but he always had baseball to fall back on, and I always believed as long as he had baseball he'd pull out of this thing. It's possible that he doesn't have baseball anymore and I also think that's a deciding factor in what's going on and whether or not he'll be able to pull out of this."
'Tis a shame, but I wouldn't give up on him. Hopefully he can get the help he needs.
