any hope for Lubanski?

Lubanski had a monster night for wichita yesterday.

KC  AA  Lubanski, Chris LF  .........   3  2  2   5  .268 - 2 HR (9); .571 SLG in July

He is a streaky guy though.  Would love to see him get his act in gear.  I do see Gordon and Butler up in KC next year.  I would expect KC to keep Lubanski in Wichita next year.

I am rooting for him.

Hope?
If anything, he's proven more to me this year than he has prior to this one.

IMO he's upgraded his prospect status this year.

The plate discipline advances are outstanding compared to last season.

He's at 50BB/85K on the year in 365 AB's.
Last year he had a 38BB/131K ratio in 531 AB's at a lower level.

That means given the same 531 AB's he would have a 73BB/123K ratio for the year.

In other words, he's improved both his walk and strikeout rate substantially in 1 year.

On the negative side, his HR rate has dropped, however that should have been expected leaving the HR haven in High Desert and playing in the Cal League. At the age of 21, some of those doubles will still turn into HR's. As for speed, he's attempting less steals but the 7 triples show that he's still got great wheels.

Assuming he gets to AAA next year at age 22, he'll still be ahead of the age/league curve. If he can even come close to matching the improvement on his strikeout rate from this year he should become an everyday option in the outfield.

Well,
I like the walk numbers but he still strikes out too much. I just not sure dropping 8 strikouts from one year to the next is substantial.

He needs to consolidate his gains next year and show more power and better contact rate than this year. If that happens he might start looking like a decent prospect.

Right now I don't  see him as more than a platoon or 4th outfielder.

Funny you bring this up
In the recent Ask BA, Jim Callis compared recent "signability" picks against over-slot picks.  When analyzing the signability guys from 2001-2004, he didn't include Lubanski in the list of "potential regulars on a quality big league team".  Thought that was a bit odd, Lubanski might not end up being an All-Star but I still think he has a very good shot at making the majors and becoming a regular.

Before the comments come rolling in about KC not being a quality big league team, he included Butler in his list.

Re:
At least he's taken his team to back to back to back AAU national championships.

Oh wait...
