It has been a while since I was able to dedicate an entire day to baseball but today I was able to do so. I have a few thoughts and a couple questions from what I have gone over so far.
Astros vs Mets: I saw Pelfrey(guy I said was the best pitching prospect left) pitch for the 3rd time this year. I like all the extra things he does on the mound; the tongue, mouthpiece, and chewing of whatever. He just missed all day running his fastball inches inside on righthanders. He also missed on his curve everytime. After throwing really well in the first two he ended up losing the game trying to be too perfect with the fastball. I have no doubt he will win many games in the future.
Scott got to play after Berkman went out with an injury(groin). Scott has had good AB every chance he has had so far. His power is really undeniable after almost taking Delgado's head off. If he can hit a ML breaker he could start for 8 years in the OF.
Albers once again DNP
Minor league notes:
Troy Patton was called up to AA and will probably start tomorrow.
Mark McLemore is on the rebound and since coming back to Round Rock and has pitched very well. He is on a strict pitch count for right now and has walked more batters than last year, though his K/9 is good and his era is 2.3.
On last weeks trade: I dislike the Huff=Zobrist/Talbot trade more and more every day. And I don't think that trade is made today if offered. I thought Zobrist at SS would have been better than Huff for Lane in the order.
MiLB audio is so cool.
Also, who were the minor leaguers traded for Shea and Williamson?
Anyone have any thoughts? As I will be researching til tonight.
