Stephen Drew to be called up

Per CBS Sportline, Stephen Drew will be called up to the majors to take the place of Craig Counsell (broken rib).

Looking forward to seeing him in action.

Playing time?
Is he being brought up to start immediately or are the D'Backs going to use him in a utility role?

start (I think)
I assume he will start, since Counsell (a regular) is headed to the DL, and expected to miss 3-6 weeks.  The article is only a small blurb, and doesn't go into too much detail.

Normally I would say "prospects of that calibre don't sit the bench", but after witnessing the Kendrick madness, I'm not even sure.

would be

foolish for them to pull a howie kendrik with him.

 let him start

He's sitting tonight
but playing regularly thereafter, before anyone goes jumping off any bridges...

Any Chance
Do you think there is a chance that Drew he STAYS up after Counsell returns?

The little info I have seen says he doesn't get much of a chance now, and goes back down when Counsell is healthy.Anyone have any different info?

Results
If he hits, I doubt Counsell would end up in his way.  I think he signed a major league contract when he was drafted, so I don't think its a huge issue starting his arby clock right?  I've always been a bit shady on how that works for those types of situations.
Rios is the next Juan Gonzales, thats right, I said it.

Agree
Can imagine they would have called him up if it was just a stop gap situation.

Drew will play everyday...
The DBacks want Stephen Drew to play, and get AB's daily...
He will be here to stay, unless he just stinks up the joint bigtime!

Look for the DBacks to bring up some more of the "Baby Backs" it's time to see what they will bring to the table, come next year... very exciting future for these young "Baby Backs"

Ideal Line-Up:

C-Montero
1B-Conner Jackson
2B-S.Drew (I would move Drew, or Upton to 2B)
3B-Chad Tracy
SS-J.Upton (Drew or Upton 2B other @ SS)
LF-Carlos Quentin
CF-Chris Young
RF-Carlos Gonzalez

This is my DREAM line-up!

No matter what, it will be fun to watch how it all plays out...   :()

Montero
How far away is Montero?

I also love that line up.  Being an East Coast guy, Im a Sox fan, but my west coast team is the Diamondbacks.  Love Connor Jackson.  Get Tony Clark out of there and give Jackson those AB's.

I would put
Drew at SS and Upton at 2b (though I think Upton will be better served in CF, in the long run he could end up at 2b). That is one hack of a potential  lineup. I think the Dodgers and Backs will compete neck and neck for the NL West for many, many years to come. They also have a few pitchers they just drafted (Scherzer, Brown, Brett Anderson, and others in their system).

I think Drew has amazing potential and should and will play everyday. He will be at SS for a long time (don't know when Counsell's contract runs up, a D'Back fan would have to point that out to me).
