My new NL Darkhorse ROY

Mike Jacobs is the guy I really think could emerge after a really slow start this year.

His average was .192 after april, .231 after May, .272 after June and now up to .285 with 12 bombs and 48 rbis.  His slg, ops and obp are all up near the top now and he seems to be improving versus regressing.

He showed a power swing last year in his 100 ab's and it is conceivable that he hits 25/90 for this season and could even flirt with .300.  Keep in mind too that Jacobs has accomplished all this playing through a sore ankle.

What do you think are his chance for ROY and what do you think the future outlook for him is.  Personally, I think the trade is another one that will work out well for the Marlins and that as of right now - there is very little talk of Carlos in Florida.

IMHO
He is currently ahead of Willingham and Hanley and Uggla has hit somewhat of a wall this month minus 1 game.  Hermida was the guy after June that I thought might move back into the race be he has also struggled in July.

Wow - 5 guys from 1 team that are all offensive that could potentially get some votes in the NL ROY race - would that be a record?

Right now I have the Marlins rookie race at..
Uggla
J Johns
Jacobs
HanRam
Olsen
Willingham
Hermida (hasnt played enough...but same rate #s as Willingham)

I think itll eventually work out
Uggla
HanRam (good Hanley will return a bit and end up a 780ish OPS...plus good SS D and steals)
J Johns (will have to hit a wall at somepoint)
Jacobs
Hermida/Olsen/Willingham

hanley
olsen
uggla

jacobs
hermida
willingham

with all of them being pretty damn good.

well
when you trade away your entire team for prospects that shouldnt be a big surprise

well
you still have to target the right prospects.  I think the way the Marlins have dismantled teams is terrible, but you have to give them credit for knowing how to build a contender.

AND
Fire sales usually don't net Major League ready guys.  The Marlins' sale did to an extreme degree.  Of the major acquisitions from last offseason, the only one I can think of that hasn't made the majors yet is Gaby Hernandez.
