Jeremy Accardo - Future Closer?

Before we shift gears into draft mode, I just wanted to get some thoughts on this guy.

Star-divide

I have not had a chance to see him pitch this year, but the numbers are impressive:
22 2/3 IP, 2.78 ERA, 7 BB, 23K.

Does he have back of the bullpen stuff? Any chance he will be groomed as San Francisco's future closer? It seems he is being used in more pressure situations lately and so far he has been very effective. Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated...

Accardo
Yes, Accardo has the type of stuff that could make him an effective closer some day,  94-98 MPH fastball with movement and a sharp breaking ball.  He has had problems with command that he seems to be gradually overcoming.  Depending on how Benitez pitches over the next year and a half, Accardo could take over as closer anytime between now and 2008.  Right now, I'd say he is the frontrunner for 2008, although there are other candidates in the Giants organization including Brian Wilson and Merkin Valdez.

today
having just watched the mets-giants series, inculding today's game where the great armando blew it in the 9th by giving up 2 hrs (one to jose valentin, the other was lastings first), i'd have to say that the giants might want to think about making such a transition by the end of this season...i mean armando is under contract so might as well try to get what you can out of him, especially since they probably won't be seriously competitive all year anyway...but in terms of stuff and ability, from what i saw this weekend (as well as what i'd seen previously) of accardo, he could probably do as good if not a better job than benitez

very young, very underrated bullpen out there in sf...

Especially considering...
...that Jack Taschner started eating his wheaties again.

What's the scouting report on Carlos Hines?  He's been dominant in Fresno, which is surprising for what was essentially a sympathy arm thrown in after Walker got DFA'd.

good arm
can touch 95.

Makeup problems though.  He was a 20th rounder out of HS who was cut the fall after he signed for rules violations and supposedly got dumped by TB for a clubhouse incident in Durham
