Curtis Granderson Crystal Ball
But I am going to ask it anyway.
Basically I am being offered
Granderson and Chris Capuano (2010 and (2009) respectively
for
Delmon Young and Adam Kennedy (150 AB's +6 years and a (2006 FA respectively)
Now the question I am asking is ..how will the production I get from Granderson for the next 6 years compare to the production I would get from Young for the next 6..
If Granderson is 2/3 of the player that Young is.. then I think I make out like a bandit but if Granderson is a stiff or fails then I am getting ripped off..
So Crystal Ball me Curtis Granderson here.. and compare that to either John's or your own Delmon Ball

my two cents
Even of your league doesn't put a premium on CF, I'd say go fo it. You'll be clearly ahead for the next two years at least, and after that maybe a meteor hits Earth...

Or Young
Do that trade
Capuano is an emerging starter. He's made major leaps in controlling his walks (down to 2.0 from 3.7 per nine last year) and his strikeouts are borderline ace material. I think his improvement is for real and he's a potential top 10 fantasy starter.
You win big on this deal. Delmon is going to be a great player. But so are Granderson and Capuano. Kennedy is a solid 2B, but nothing more.
Better than Sizemore?
Sizemore is a year and 5 months younger (with a 22 HR/ 22 SB season already under his belt) and could develop 30 HR power as he fills out. He is also a better bet for stolen bases and I like his chances to beat out Granderson in average as well.
I read somoewhere last year that Granderson's stolen bases likely wouldn't transfer to the majors. So far, that seems to be the case, with 5/10 SB between last year's callup and more than two months this season. Without 20+ steals, Granderson should not even come close to Sizemore's fantasy value...
Playing for this year?
If this move will not likely put you over the top this year, I would hold onto Delmon. Granderson is far from a stiff, but give me the potential superstar over the two solid guys anyday. Fantasywise, Delmon's stats could dwarf Granderson's as soon as next year and while Capuano is nice, he will not make up the difference in my opinion. Solid pitching can always be found...
Capps and Granderson...
Hype Delmon all people on this site want. Until he can prove it in the bigs, take the two guys who have proven they can.
Dont buy into the hype, take the sure things. I know people on this site will argue with me that Delmon is a sure thing, but these are also the people that finished last in the 2005 season cause they spent all their fantasy caproom in 2003 on Ben Grieve.
TAKE THE SURE THING!!!!
re
That means high OB%, solid but not spectacular HR totals, and solid defense without true CF range.

If Granderson sticks in CF and puts up consistent .300/.400/.500 lines with 20+ homers and steals, he'll go down as one of the best CFers in his generation.

Granderson
He has good range because he almost always takes the correct jump and route to the ball. Sometimes it looks like he is moving right when the ball is hit.
Basically he has cemented his position in CF. He is playing the best defense I have seen out there in a long time.
I don't think anyone would watch him today and wonder if he can stay in center.
