With Lugo Injured ...
Is there any chance that Upton will be called up? If not, what trigger (other than the obvious trade of Lugo) will it take for the Rays to make this move?
Obviously, if Lugo is moved (probably sometime around mid-season), Upton is going to come up. What do the Rays do, if Upton finally resolves his problems on defense, and Lugo returns from the DH, continues to hit, and the Rays don't trade him?

The Rays claim
The Rays obviously aren't going to sit Lugo if he's on the team even if Upton is playing short. The most likely scenario in that case is that Lugo will play second base.
let's not forget
the Rays brass said NO
It's just a rumor ...

Why not...
I wouldn't
b) Cantu is AWFUL at 3rd. He's not great at 2B, but he's passable there. He just doesn't have the quickness to play 3B. At 2B, he can at least play a bit deeper. If Cantu gets moved anywhere, it will be to 1B, which means he'll stay at 2B as long as he continues to be passable there.
