Duffy vs. McClouth !

McClouth got the start today and went 0-5, but we have a PLATOON

I wish somewhere in Vegas, they're putting odds on each guy.  Assuming one eventually beats out the other  .. I like McClouth because his minor league history is a little better, but Duffy was big last year.. they're both lefty and match up evenly in almost everything

You should have included...
McCutchen. He's better than both of them and should be the starting CF imo.

Should be McLouth.
Aside from Duffy's defense, he really isn't better than McLouth in any area. Both are solid hitters for average, but McLouth will walk more, strikeout less, and probably have a bit more power. McLouth has also been a higher percentage basestealer. It's too bad both are left-handed. They would probably make a decent platoon if one of them were right-handed.

Defense
I voted McLouth with batting in mind only.  He's 2 years younger and posted marginally better numbers.  Maybe room to develop some pop, better patience numbers.  But apparently Duffy's defense laps him in CF.  Can anyone verify that this is the case?

re
I am very familiar with Duffy from his time at Arizona St. He is a terrific defensive CFer with a very strong arm (voted best defensive OF and best OF arm in Pac10). He seemed to be one of those guys that would "turn it on and off" however. He hit some absolute bombs, I mean 450 foot shots, but didn't do it with any consistency (hit like 4 his whole junior year). His hustle also seemed to be as about as inconsistent as his power. He could have been one of those dominant college players, the type that hit .380 with 10-15 homers, but instead was an enigma his one year as ASU
