Around SBN: 2011 In Extreme Home Runs

Jorge Cantu to DL

I am glad that I am not a Devil Ray's fan.  This lineup that they are putting out is disguisting.  It now will include Nick Green, Tomas Perez, Joey Gaithright, Travis Lee, Ty Wiggington and Damon Hollins.  This is a joke with how much offensive talent they have down on the farm.  They can't play this lineup and expect one person to go to a game.

They owe the fans and MLB to bring up a few of their young talented prospects a shot. I know Upton's arm isn't ready, but neither is Weeks or Edwin's glove.  Delmon Young is probably going to get in some trouble with this incident so he probably doesn't deserve the shot.  Elijah Dukes and Darnell McDonald are both playing well.  They are both better then Hollins and Gaithright.

Well
The Rays' C squad beat the Yankee's A squad tonight :)

It is a terrible line-up right now though.  Rocco is going to be back on the 5th.  Lugo will be back in a few weeks, and Huff should be back soon.  So if they call up all these young guys, then they have to send them down fairly soon, and I don't like that option very much.

Wigginton
looks like Ty has a place to go for ABs when Huff returns.

it may not look pretty
but the Rays are scoring 4.9 runs per game, good for 7th in the AL, and ahead of Boston (4.7), LA (4.6), Detroit (4.5), Minnesota (4.5), Seattle (4.3), Oakland (4.2), & KC (3.7).  Not bad considering the injury issues the team's dealing with.

The number would be much better
if they weren't giving significant time to the likes of Nick Green, Russ Branyan and Tomas Perez (the first two of whom are not only costing on offense, but severely on defense as well).  Replace those three with Lugo, Cantu and Huff, and I'm willing to bet that the Rays have a winning record right now, despite their horrible pitching.  Of course, a lot of it has been luck too - some of their highest and lowest scoring nights have come in games where the pitching was truly awful, so they're probably a bit better than their pythagorean still...
