Suggestion Thread

Taking suggestions for what you want to see...prospect retros, player profiles, "don't take too seriously crystal balls," more serious player projections for 2006 using JSPS,  prospect smackdowns, a look at guys who are young but are no longer rookies, etc. I have a couple in mind but I want to see what you guys are particularly interested in right now.

Two very different sophomore pitchers I will be taking a close look at soon: Zach Duke of Pittsburgh and Ambiorix Burgos of Kansas City. I also want to reprise the Young Pitching Symposium we did last spring, although that will wait until I'm home next week.

How about a Jon Lester or Jonathan Papelbon projection?

Who do you like better, those two, or Anibal Sanchez?

Community Projections?
Are we doing community projections this spring?

It would be interesting doing the projections for guys like Zach Duke and Hermida.

Community Projections, yeah we will do those again. In fact, I think I'll start one now.

Enthusiastic yes on this:
"a look at guys who are young but are no longer rookies"

Seconded!
On a related note, Zack Greinke is talking with a sports psychologist on a regular basis now.

i enthusistically agree
I wanna see Nick Swisher, Justin Morneau, Bobby Crosby (i'm clearly biased here), Noah Lowry. I'm really interested to see what the opinion on Morneaus bad season is.

2006 MLB draft?
How about some projections for the 2006 draft?

by acr on Mar 7, 2006 10:22 PM EST reply actions

an interesting idea
instead of doing a player crystal ball, maybe trying doing a team crystal ball.

like maybe a team crystal ball for the 2009 Marlins. I think something like that would be fun and entertaining.

some teams to consider with current bright futures
dbacks
angels
dodgers
marlins
braves
twins

Bay Area
I'd like more GM evaluations.  I don't think you ever did Sabean or Beane.

Crystal Ball Suggestions
How about having a crystal ball for the sophmores Rickie Weeks and Jeff Francis. Also what about another one concerning the O's tandem of Daniel Cabrera and Eric Bedard. Both have potential to be great, and i wander if the community would project them anywhere close to my opinion of atleast 12 wins each and about 165 strikout for cabrera and 150 strikeouts for bedard.
Talent can not make up for hard work.

I'll second......
the team Crystal Ball suggestion, especially one for Arizona and the Dodgers.

Breakdowns
I'd be interested in a breakdown of a team's minor players by type of player. For instance, what percentage of all Chicago Cub minor leaguers are true ML "prospects," what percentage are "position fillers" with no hope of ever making it and what percentage are vets who are there in case of an injury to the big club.

I think it would be interesting to see if there's consistency from year to year in various teams, and to see if there's a model that's more successful than others.

For example, I've always wondered why a team will start a AAA 3B with no hope of making the big club (someone who's repeatedly passed over), when they could field someone there with at least utility IF potential. Who care's if the latter guy hits? Isn't a better objective to ready someone for a role-playing spot on the ML roster if needed?

draft & ncaa
I would like to see more coverage on the '06 MlB draft as well as college baseball.

Reggie Sanders
I wouldn't mind seeing a Prospect Retro on Reggie Sanders.

Too late for suggestions?
I'd love to see a prospect retro on Kalvoski Daniels. When he and Paul O'Neill were fighting for playing time with the Reds, I though for sure O'Neill was a stiff and Kal was the future stud.

Side note - might be interesting to consider dual prospects that came up at the same time with the same team, and went different directions.
