Pirate Arms

I was just looking over my available pitchers list for my fantasy draft and noticed (again) that the Pirates have some amazing young arms.

-Maholm had 5 quality starts in 6 outings to go with a 1.16 WHIP, 2.18 ERA and at least a decent K/BB/IP ratio to start a career.

-Duke had a good K/BB/IP ratio, 3 HR allowed in 84 IP, and only 90 P/start.  Oh, and 1.20 WHIP and a 1.81 ERA.

-Perez was lights-out 2 years ago.

-Kip Wells is a servicable #4/5 but hasn't really progressed.

SOooo, what are the chances that Maholm, Duke (and Snell to a degree) can progress into an above-average duo?  Has anyone seen them pitch?  If Gorzelanny makes the rotation and Perez returns healthy, will 4 lefties in the starting rotation be good or bad for the success of the Pirates?  Will Snell make the rotation and who will be left out?  Will the Pirates be able to compete in the NL Central with this rotation core?

I've been tired of the "Who should I draft" posts, but this was more a baseball question that was brought about during draft preparation.  More of a tangent than anything.
