Interesting that Ian Stewart seems to finish in about 4th or 5th place no matter how many rounds he is in.  Now I'll mix in some of the next wave who did well (though I suspect there was some ballot box stuffing for Patton - when I left work, he was almost in last place, and when I checked at home 2 hours later he was easily in 1st) as well as Rowell (who I thought was already on the list) and Morales (who I forgot).  I'll put Patton on the poll next time around.

Felix Pie
I predict that at this time next year some of us will feel foolish that Pie was not even listed as one of the top 40 prospects.

+1
I think Hurley deserves a tester also

by eastin on Dec 8, 2006 2:15 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

yeah
Hurley should get a shot along with Donald Veal at some point soon.

Fields
I feel like a broken record, but i'm surprised he hasn't been voted in by now.

by eazyb81 on Dec 8, 2006 2:19 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I'm not sure why people don't like him...
I mean I saw his exclusion from votes in the late 30s to have been an oversight. I mean he's no better or worse than Votto or Pence, and yet people don't want to vote for him.

Oh well, he gets my vote. Ianetta, Pie, Stewart and Fields should all come in around here.

Fields
will in all likelihood have my vote until he gets on the board.

by drob320 on Dec 8, 2006 3:53 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

maybe because his teammate....
...Ryan Sweeney hasn't even been voted on yet...and every list done by BA in the past year has had Sweeney ahead of fields every time.

So...
Are you saying that just because BA and others feel Sweeney is better than Fields, then that explains why community people think Ellsbury or Pie are better than Fields? I don't follow the logic.

by beastball on Dec 9, 2006 8:16 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i was replying to easyb....
...only comparing sweeney and fields...and remarking how everyone here seems to not give a rat's particular about Sweeney...when scouts, managers, and everyone at BA has been saying great thing about him for years...

Gomez

Danks
and I really miss Guzman.

An "Other" Vote for Danks
I considerd voting for Billy Rowell to round out the top 40 with Daric and the Domin-O's and an appeal to my parochialism combined with copious amounts of alcohol could sway my vote toward Iannetta (catchers need love, too) but, even after a weekend of consideration, no other player on the list even compares to Danks.

My real vote is
Ryan Sweeney, but just so I'm not throwing a vote away, I'm going to vote for Iannetta.

It's hard to find a good catcher with an all around game as good as Iannetta at the MLB level.  He is more valuable than most people (including possibly myself) realize.
