SI.com says the Red Sox and J.D. Drew have agreed to a five-year, $70 million contract, pending a physical.
The Boston media has said all along with that the fifth year is an option, perhaps one that would vest with a certain number of plate appearances. If Heyman is right, it's a worse deal for Boston. Still, it's a better contract than the deals given to the other top outfielders this winter. Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown is also saying that it's a guaranteed $70 million.
