Baseball Thankfulness Poll

On this day when we give thanks, what are you most thankful for in the world of baseball player moves so far this offseason?

There has been a lot of talk about which of the high-priced moves is the most insane.  But, in between eating turkey, enjoying family, eating more turkey, watching football, eating turkey, playing football, and ... well ... pillaging the fridge to see what you have that doesn't contain turkey... what's made you happy this offseason?  If it's something just in the "rumors" stage, that's fine too.  Anything is welcome.

I'm thankful
I'm thankful that my team is owned by someone rich enough to afford Matsuzaka and visionary enough to see the advantage of signing him.

And I'm equally thankful that my team is not managed by Ned Coletti, Jim Hendry, Bill Stoneman or any other jokers like those.

Matsuzaka
Matsuzaka was, IMO, the best player, not just pitcher, but player avaailable this offseason.  If you're going to break the bank on someone, he's the guy to do it on.  But $51 M for a posting fee?  Holy moly! That is a whole lot of jack!

$51million
I would much rather overpay for quality than overpay for mediocrity. At least Matsuzaka has the potential to make a huge difference for the red sox. On the other hand, Juan Pierre is not going to get the Dodgers in the Playoffs, and Gary Matthews Jr. is not the kind of player that will lead the Angels to the promise land.

Flattering
Slurve, you have a stalker!

People
always try to imitate things they admire and try defame/tear down things they know they can't measure up to.

I'm thinking this is probably the same person who employs "your mom"-type insults - only stands to reason that same person is a homo-phobe.  What a sad existance.

Anyway, this is a Thanksgiving diary... I'm thankful for my family and friends and thankful none of them are lowlife idiots... kind of like whoever this "slurves" stroke is.

i'm thankful
that my team is mostly immune to overpaying for free agents, with the notable exception of esteban loaiza a year ago. instead they do things like getting the full healthy season of frank thomas for $3M, which is a lot nicer than shelling out $18M and hoping he will be healthy and effective in 2006-07.

slurves
I was so upset when I read that reply from slurves, I vowed to myself never to come back to this site again.  (I know, I know, I'm sensitive.)  I'm now thankful I did come back, and I see that this thread isn't the only one that obnoxious person attempted to derail.  I gotta wonder where the enjoyment is in that for someone.  But then again, I think I'd rather not know, and just be thankful that I cannot understand it, just like I cannot understand people who write viruses.
