What I don't understand
is can't they just use a machine to create the spin? Why do they have to only use computer simulations.
Seems like it wouldn't be that hard.

Computer models
Are more accurate and easier to analyze data with. The computer physics simulation and analysis they can do now is amazing. I think it's safe to say it's far enough advanced, trying use machine to do it would be be pretty crude in comparison.
