Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Oganization with the Best Hitting

Ok same type of question here. Which major league organization has the most hitting depth and impact potential in the minor leagues? The Diamondbacks were the leaders in this category before the season started but they graduated several top prospects to the majors in Jackson, Quentin, Drew and others. So who gets it now? Angels? Diamondbacks still? someone else?

D-Rays are up there
Star-studded front line in Young, Dukes, Upton, Brignac, Longoria and Guzman with decent other guys like Zobrist, Pedroza, Ruggiano, Jaso, Fernando Perez,  Nowak, Riggans, Elliot Johnson and Bankson.

Plus these guys dont get the crazy park influnced #s that the D-Backs and Angels kids get

Dbacks and Royals
I'm not sure if we're talking about strictly players in the minors, or just young, talented hitters.

Anyway, the Dbacks are a no-brainer, they are loaded with Gonzo, Young, Drew, Upton, and Quentin.

I also like the Royals young talent.  They have two premium bats in Gordon and Butler, but also have Lubanski, Huber, Bianchi, Maier, and you could throw in Teahen, Shealy, and Dejesus.

Probably Tampa Bay
If we're going with the organization as a whole, majors and minors, I'd go with the Rays.

Hmm
Rockies not even in the discussion for anybody? Lots of interesting names there.

clarification
When you say "hitting", do you mean "hitting", or "position players?"  Obviously, for roto purposes, a guy like Osvaldo Navarro on Seattle (just pulling a name out of a hat) is going to be essentially meaningless, but he is by all accounts an excellent defensive shortstop, and that's a valuable asset to an organization.

Once again....Rockies should be in the mix....
Tulo, Baker, Seth Smith, Koshansky, Stewart, Gaetti, Wimberly, EY Jr. Dexter Fowler, Cole Garner, Chris Nelson, Matt Miller, Hector Gomez....to name a few....

D-Ray's
It isn't even close. (I'm a Rockies fan) Anaheim, Arizona, Colorado, LA all have some good hitters.

But the D-Rays are the cream of the crop. I'd argue it isn't even close. Two potential All-Star corner OF's a Solid CF or 2B (Whatever Upton will be. One of the best SS's for now in Brignac, One of the best 3B prospects in Longoria. Guzman is still young enough to be considered a talent. Plus the have a whole second tier of decent hitters. Johnson etc...

TB is doing a great job. This is an exciting time to be a Rays fan. Now if they'd just change their mascot, colors and almost everything else you'd have something.

Upton
is just as much an future all-star as anyone else in the minors.."solid" is selling him short

Tampa
Delmon Young, Reid Brignac, BJ Upton, Evan Longoria, they have a VERY good core system with those top prospects, and some very good others.

consistency, please
I've seen B.J. Upton's name a lot.  If you include him, you have to start including a lot of other young hitters who have less than a full season in MLB.  Upton has 365 plate appearances so far already.  Calling him a "prospect" seems a bit inconsistent.

Original intention
I did not mean to have major league players there any more. Only people who could still qualify as prospects or the rookie of the year for next season.
